This is a beautiful wine and represents huge bang for buck! Classed as a Crianza but aged significantly more than DOC Rioja requires for such a wine, it is more akin in style to a Reserva or Gran Reserva. Made by a famous producer in the highest area of Rioja, in a very traditional style with 3 years in American oak barrels, and now 5+ in the bottle, it’s had time to develop perfectly. And 2015 was officially a great vintage giving high quality, ripe-flavoured fruit.
All this means a complex and concentrated wine, full of damson plum and ripe red cherry fruit, tobacco and nutmeg notes with a touch of vanilla and liquorice. Silky smooth tannins and a long, lingering finish.
