The name of this wine comes from the grape variety - Rubin - which is native to Bulgaria. Interestingly, it stems from Syrah and Nebbiolo, two powerhouse grapes which create some of the world’s most famous wines in Barolo and Côte-Rôtie.
Made in tiny quantities - only 2848 bottles were produced for the 2021 vintage - this wine is deep ruby in colour, with aromas and flavours of black cherry and tart raspberry, backed up by subtle sweet spice and with almost a whiff of dark chocolate. The winemakers love to champion indigenous and unknown grape varieties and we applaud that.
We believe this wine offers incredible value for money and if any grilled or cured meats are on the menu, this is the wine to accompany them.
